The show was everything one would expect from such a standup hardcore lineup- absolutely brutal. All the bands came with their A-game and delivered a soundtrack for some raucous mosh all for a friend in need. We’ve all been in the wrong place at the wrong time. One of Philadelphia’s premiere show organizers and promoters, Mr. Joe “Hardcore” McKay found himself in such a position a few weeks ago as a passenger in his car was found to carrying some no-nos by the Philly po-pos. Although both parties were forthcoming that Mckay had no knowledge of his passenger’s illegal possessions, McKay was hit with some hefty charges. McKay’s lawyer assured him that the charges would not stick, but we know how expensive lawyers are, and for a blue-collar, hard-working Philadelphian, those costs can break the bank. Luckily for McKay, karma stepped in and no sooner was he bailed out, then the Philadelphia hardcore community, including the promoters who work with Joe at Philly Hardcore Shows and R5, had organized a monstrous benefit show on his behalf. Personal friends of Joe Hardcore and hardcore mainstays Floorpunch and Cold World came out of the woodwork with support from Face Reality, Pegasus, Agitator, and Born Annoying to round out this benefit billing. This bill also marked the first Philly show ever for hardcore titans, The Wrongside.
