On August 10th, 2012, This Is Hardcore Fest 2012 migrated from The Union Transfer to the premises of Philadelphia’s Electric Factory where it would reside for the next three days. Upon arrival Friday afternoon, fans found the usual 7-foot stage gone, and in its place, a stage-diver’s wet dream. A 3-foot stage with no barrier between crowd and bands. This rare spectacle at the Electric Factory was quickly swarmed on by scores of fans that set the room on fire as soon as local favorites Beware and Wrong Answer struck opening chords. The grounds surrounding the venue were transformed into a smorgasbord of food trucks, distros, band merch, record labels, and various vendors offering a wide-assortment of goods and information.
While most of the Blow The Scene staff was busy hobnobbing with the crowd and the bands, photographer Anne Spina was stationed onstage gathering a massive collection of shots of the all the performers.
Friday’s cast ran as follows:
Beware
Wrong Answer
Praise
Power Trip
Harm’s Way
Death Threat
100 Demons
Cold World
Cro-Mags
Suicidal Tendencies
Again, we have far too many memorable moments to document in writing in a reasonable amount of time. It should be noted, of course, just how incredible it was seeing Suicidal Tendencies play on the 3-foot stage in front of 3,000 hardcore fans. From the opening notes of ST‘s set, the energy of the crowd hit its zenith with an explosive response that more than proved Suicidal Tendencies are still relevant 30+ years deep in the game.
Here we have over 200 photos of from a stage perspective of all the performing bands.
We’ll be launching a new gallery every day through Tuesday, so stay tuned for TIH Day 3 Bands tomorrow!
